Top 10 bollywood films in 2011

     Bollywood is the largest film producer in India and one of the largest centers of film production in the world. Year 2011 delivered 107 films to audience. Though, listing top films is not easy, we tried our best to do it. Following is the list;

10. Delhi Belly
     Delhi Belly is a comedy film shot primarily in English with a little Hindi, directed by Abhinay Deo, starring Imran Khan, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Vir Das, Poorna Jagannathan and Shenaz Treasurywala.The film was given an 'A' certificate for its adult language and content.

9. Haunted
     Haunted – 3D is a Indian 3D horror film directed by Vikram Bhatt and starring Mahakshay Chakraborty, Twinkle Bajpai, Achint Kaur, Sagar Saikia and Arif Zakaria in lead roles. The film is India’s first stereoscopic 3D horror film. The film was having mixed reviews but turned out to be surprise hit at the box office.

8. Murder 2
     "Murder 2" is a thriller film and the sequel to the 2004 hit film, Murder. The film is the second installment to the Murder Series which stars Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead. Directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Mukesh Bhatt, The film has been given an 'A' certificate from the Indian Censor Board. The plot of the film is said to be inspired from the South Korean film, The Chaser.

7. Singham
     Singham is an action film directed by Rohit Shetty starring Ajay Devgn, Kajal Aggarwal and Prakash Raj in lead roles. It is a remake of the 2010 Tamil film Singam. The film went on to become one of the highest grossing movies of 2011. The Delhi High Court, upon Reliance Entertainment's request, issued an order to all Indian ISPs to block filesharing sites to prevent piracy of Singham.

6. Ready
      Ready is a romantic comedy film directed by Anees Bazmee, starring Salman Khan and Asin in the lead roles. The film is a remake of the 2008 Telugu film, 'Ready' and became the second highest opening day grosser, as well as the second highest weekend grossing Bollywood film, after Dabangg. It also held records for the highest grossing Bollywood film of 2011 and the third highest grossing Bollywood film ever domestically.

5. Ra.One
     Ra.One is a Hindi science fiction superhero film written and directed by Anubhav Sinha. The film features Shahrukh Khan in dual roles, and also stars Kareena Kapoor, Armaan Verma and Arjun Rampal in the lead. 
     The film released across 3,100 screens in India and 904 prints overseas in both 2D and 3D, making it the largest Indian cinematic release in the world. Upon release, while the Indian critics gave mixed reviews, the overseas film critics received it warmly. The film has been widely praised for its visual effects and action, though criticism has been generated regarding its script and direction. Subsequently, the success of the effects and the 3D version of the film prompted multiple other Bollywood filmmakers to consider technology as a part of film-making, especially in view of the success of Ra.One and the inordinately higher returns generated from 3D ticket sales.

4. Zindagi na milegi dobara
 
      Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is a coming-of-age film, directed by Zoya Akhtar and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The film features an ensemble cast including Hrithik Roshan as Arjun, Abhay Deol as Kabir and Farhan Akhtar as Imraan. It also stars Katrina Kaif, Kalki Koechlin and Ariadna Cabrol  along with Naseeruddin Shah. The film had a wide release in 1800 screens and was a critical and commercial success.

3. Aarakshan
 
      Aarakshan is a social film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone. Directed by Prakash Jha, the film is a socio-political drama based on the controversial policy of caste based reservations in government jobs and educational institutions.
2. The dirty picture
 
     The Dirty Picture is a biographical film based on the life of Silk Smitha, an actress noted for her erotic roles. The film was directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor, together after their last hit Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. The film stars Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah, Tusshar Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles.
     Upon release, the film received both critical and commercial success, with Balan receiving maximum accolades for her performance and being called "the hero of the film". In addition, the film received widespread note for displaying the power of women in a typically male-oriented society.
1. Bodyguard
     Bodyguard is a romantic action film directed by Siddique. The third remake of the director's own 2010 Malayalam film of the same name, the film was produced by Atul Agnihotri and features Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles.
     The film broke many records upon its release. Within the first day of its release, it went on to become the highest opening day grosser as well as the biggest grosser ever for a single day up until then. The film set another box office record, netting 102.86 crore in its first week, thus becoming the highest opening week grossing Bollywood film. Bodyguard has grossed 229 crore worldwide and has emerged as Bollywood's second highest-grossing film ever. It is also the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2011.
