Central Board of Film Certification: It’s time to MOVE ON!!

Central Board of Film Certification, India is always in news due to issues related with film directors and producers. Every time, when Censor Board beeps or cuts any part of the movie, film makers ask them for reason behind it.
Recently, Censor board of India has decided to add short description regarding the movie which will help audience to judge about it. "This move is a part of the overall redesigning of the CBFC certificate. The rating of the movie will be depicted more prominently and the reason for the rating will be provided," Pankaja Thakur, CEO of CBFC, told PTI. "This move is basically in the nature of consumerguidance," she added.

At present, Central Board of Film Certification certifies films with 4 categories,
1. U certificate: unrestricted Public Exhibition
2. UA certificate: Unrestricted Public Exhibition - but with a word of caution that Parental discretion required for children below 12 years
3. A certificate: Restricted to adults
4. S certificate: Restricted to any special class of persons.

It will be better if Censor board introduces few more categories for certification like Social, inspiring, dirty, etc.

Censor board has already decided to redesign their certificate. Instead of old fashioned Black and white certificate, now viewers can see colorful and attractive certificate in movie theatres. Background and exact designing is not ready. There might be a competition for certificate designing. How if they take a national level certificate designing competition as like for symbol of Rupee currency.

We hope for best design to come out from talented Indian designers.
